New Delhi, December 08, 2006: An Evening dedicated to the 185th Birth Anniversary of the Famous Russian Poet Nikolay Nekrasov was marked at a function jointly organized with Parichay Sahitya Parishad at the Russian Centre of Science & Culture (RCSC), 24, Ferozeshah Road, New Delhi, on December 7, 2006.

Mrs. Maria Pavlova, Senior Executive and Programme Coordinator, RCSC, showed to an audience computer presentation "The Poet of His Motherland", featuring the multi-dimensional personality of the eminent Russian Poet Nikolay Nekrasov, and recited some of his important poems before an intellectual gathering comprising, among others, leading Hindi and Urdu poets. She quoted Dostoevsky as having described Nekrasov as the greatest Russian poet since Pushkin and Lermontov. Quotations from the works of Nekrasov are as abundant and widely known in Russia as those from Shakespeare in England, she said.

Presided over by Mrs. Urmil Satyabhushan, noted Hindi poet and author and President of Parichay Sahitya Parishad, the Seminar-cum-Presentation literally turned out to be a poetic symposium. She herself recited some of her own poems to the delight of the gathering which remained symbolic in several respects. Her works reflected on the vicissitudes of life. A major highlight in her presentation was the Gazal numbers of genuine artistic relish she had penned in the past.

Other leading Hindi and Urdu poets and authors who recited their poems included Mr. Lekshmi Shankar Vajpayee, Mr. Seemab Sultanputi, Mr. Anil Verma Meet, Mr. Ranjit Shukla, Smt. Alka Sinha, Mr. Subhash Neerav, Ms. Namita Rakesh, Dr. Rekha Vyas, Mr. Shahid Anjum and Dr. Nalini Bajaj.
