News and Events SEMINAR ON RUSSIAN-INDIAN INTER-UNIVERSITY COOPERATION

New Delhi, May 20, 2008:: The Seminar entitled “Russian-Indian Inter-University Cooperation: Scope and Perspectives” with the participation of Russian universities and academies, jointly organized by the Russian Centre of Science & Culture and the Russian Centre of International Studies, was held at 24-Ferozeshah Road, New Delhi, on May 19, 2008.

            

Prof. Dmitry Bazhenov, Vice-Chairman for Foreign Students, Tver State Medical Academy, who led the nine-member Russian delegation representing leading institutions of higher education, pointed out that there are enormous opportunities in the Russian universities in different specialities for aspiring Indian students. There are hundreds of thousands of Indian students now undergoing studies in various institutions of higher learning in Russia, he said, adding that Russian higher education has credible international standards.

Prof. Ramadhikari Kumar, Rector, Jawaharlal Nehru University, welcomed the commendable gesture of Russian universities and academies, which by encouraging the aspiring Indian students to take up higher education in Russia provide larger exposure in different spheres in the international arena. He noted that the growing trend of Indian students seeking higher learning in Russian universities give a greater impact in accelerating the process of Indo-Russian relations now bound by strategic partnership.

Prof. Abhai Maurya, Vice-Chancellor, English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad, expressing his contentment in the excellent performance of Indian students already having higher education in Russian universities in the development of our country, emphasized that more and more students seeking the best available higher educational potential in that country will give a strong fillip to the process of national progress. Bilateral ties in scientific fields require more well-trained personnel and Russian universities are the right and appropriate ones to help out, he said.

Earlier, welcoming the gathering comprising academics, scholars, professors, students and other, Dr. Sergey V. Cherkas, Deputy Director, RCSC, said that the Seminar assumes great significance on many counts, particularly providing a suitable forum of aspiring students seeking higher studies in the context of Russian universities providing higher education which is considered to be one of the most advanced and high in the world with the cost much cheaper than many other countries.

Prof. Sergey Petropavlovskiy, Deputy Dean, International Financial Faculty, Moscow State Financial Academy, Prof. Sergey Lutin, Head, International Relations, Moscow Aviation Institute, Ms. Alexandra Troshina, Admission Officer, Tomsk Polytechnic University, Prof. Vladimir Gibin, Head of the Department, Steam Gas Turbine Faculty, Moscow Power Engineering Institute, Prof. Alexander Kryukov, Head of Department of Computer Systems and Networks, Moscow Power Engineering Institute, Prof. Alexander Eremeev, Head of Department of Applied Mathematics, Moscow Power Engineering Institute, Prof. Rodion Kudrin, Director, Centre of International Economic Relations, Volgograd State Medical Academy, and Asst. Prof. Sayed Kamruzzaman (Washim), Head of RCIS, Deputy Dean for Foreign Students, Tver Medical Academy, who were present at the Seminar, described the activities of their institutions.

A two-Day Education Fair will be inaugurated by H.E. Mr. Vyacheslav, I. Trubnikov, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to India, on May 20, 2008.
