News and Events /RUSSIAN-INDIAN DOCUMENTARY FILM FESTIVAL OPENED

New Delhi, November 27, 2007: : A three-day Russian-Indian Documentary Film Festival, dedicated to the 60th Anniversary of Russian-Indian Diplomatic Relations, was opened at the Russian Centre of Science & Culture (RCSC), 24, Ferozeshah Road, here, yesterday, by Ms, Gargi Sen, Trustee, Magic Lantern Foundation, and Dr. Sergey V. Cherkas, Deputy Director, RCSC.

The festival provides the screening of Russian films such as "Zilim Grannies", "Martha", "The Bastion", "Ledin", "Moscow Forever" and "Yaptik Hesse", and the Indian films, "Jashn-e-Azadi", "Scribbles on Akka", and "Q2P". The films depict human-interest themes of the contemporary world.

Entitled "Globalization, Gender, Human Rights and Environmental Issues of Contemporary World: Russian and Indian Women's Vision", the Film Festival has been jointly organize by the RCSC, Magic Lantern Foundation and Women's Social Democratic Congress.

Declaring the Documentary Film Festival open after lighting the traditional lamp, Ms. Gargi Sen, Trustee, Magic Lantern Foundation, admitted that the occasion offered good opportunities for those who are keen to study the new developments in film-making making use of this potential audio-visual media. She thanked the RCSC for providing all encouragement to such a joint venture.
