News and Events /CHILDREN'S ROLE AS YOUNG CULTURAL ENVOYS STRESSED
H. E. Mr. Vyacheslav I. Trubnikov, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to India, stressed the efficacy of children as harbingers of peace and young cultural envoys, who are apt to contribute significantly to the deepening and strengthening of cultural bonds and people-to-people relations between Russia and India. He was speaking while according a warm welcome to a group of children constituting the Nehru Bal Samiti's 15-member Cultural Delegation, which returned after a 11-day visit to Russia under the cultural exchange programme, at a function on September 27, 2006 at the Embassy of the Russian Federation in India. The Ambassador observed that such exchanges would go a long way in comprehending each other's cultural heritage, traditions and practices. He was highly impressed by the Instrumental Duet presented by Sashank of DPS, R.K.Puram on Sarod, and Dhruv Suri of DPS, R. K. Puram. on Synthasiser, and the Vocal Music performed by Kumud Bharadwaj of DAV Public School, Gurgaon.

Mr. S. P. Govil, Freedom Fighter and Hony. Secretary & Director, Nehru Bal Samiti, who led the delegation comprising nine child artists and six teachers and advisers, sharing his impressions of the visit, pointed out that the main objective of the visit, besides visiting historical places and monuments, was to deepen bilateral friendship and cooperation among the younger generation and interaction among senior peoples of the two countries. Russian children, besides being keen to learn Indian arts, take ardent interest to learn Hindi language, he added. The delegation visited the Town of Kolomna, Town of Yasnaya Pollyanna, House of Nationalities, Indian Embassy, etc., during their stay in Moscow.
H. E. Mr. Vyacheslav I. Trubnikov presented Certificates of Merit to members of the children's delegation and blessed them for their excellence in performances. He accepted the invitation to pay a visit to Nehru Bal Samiti to acquaint himself with the activities of the institution on the Children's Day on November 14, 2006.
